Navigating Brussels with ELLS 2025 - An Introduction to European Research Funding and Politics for Early Career Researchers

<p>This project targets PhD students, aligned with ELLS strategic aims, and young post docs, providing the participants with:<br>• better understanding of the workings of European research policy and funding,<br>• knowledge about research projects importance,<br>• ability to assess their current career status, identify strengths and areas of development,<br>• knowledge about research-related job opportunities outside of academia and industry.</p><p>The course is also a great opportunity to exchange experiences and strengthen networks within the Support Team. In addition, the possibilities of creating a “Navigating Brussels with ELLS” Alumni Network will be explored. Framework conditions: Target group: Late PhDs to junior post docs (1 yr < PhD < 3 yrs); Group size: 20 – 24; Duration: three to four days; Location: Brussels, Belgium; Course activities: Presentations/workshops focused on funding schemes (e.g. MSCA, ERC, Pillar 2 grants, COST), proposal writing and career development, together with visits to European Institutions such as ERC and the European Parliament.; Speakers: European Commission and its Agencies, ELLS RSOs, successful applicants to HEU-programmes e.g. MSCA, ERC, liaison offices for R&D&I; Venue: Organised via personal contacts in the RSO team; <br>Evaluation of the course will be carried out again in cooperation with the QA-ST.</p>
